“I don’t want to know where photography will take me. I want the end result to be a surprise. This image taken on black and white film with a very old camera is the perfect example for me. Titled “No Time to Stop”, it won an Award of Merit at the 2009 Skyway Juried Art Expo. Even if this is the only award my photography achieves, this image will always visually represent why I love to photograph and how I define what is within the image.” - Rick
In April of 2009, I joined a group of photographers on a photo trek throughout the city of Chicago. Each of us submitted a group of photos for the “Best of Chicago” Here are the 20 that were selected. Please enjoy not only my work that was selected, but the work of my fellow trekkers as well.
This year I decided to do an independent study project with Waubonsee Community College in Sugar Grove, IL. The project is titled “ The Abandonment of Manufacturing”. This image, titled “American Progress”, is part of that project and was selected by a national jury of artists for inclusion in “2011 Best of College Photography”. This hardbound book is due out in June of 2011. In addition, it was purchased by college for inclusion and display in their permanent art collection. The project concludes this May. Contact me for the show details if you are interest in attending.
On June 3rd, 2011 I participated in the Aurora Art Walk. This public event was held in downtown Aurora on a very warm Friday night. Despite the heat, the event was pack. I am very proud to have been the recipient of the very first peoples choice award, The Weber Award. This traveling trophy will be passed on to each winner who can add a piece of there own art to it so that it grows as does the appreciation for art in the city of Aurora. Thank you to all who voted!
